LONDON: Twitter’s new logo, a white X set against a black background, has been revealed by the company’s CEO, following Elon Musk’s expressed desire to replace the bird logo.

According to the BBC, Linda Yaccarino took to Twitter on Monday morning to share the exciting news, stating, “X is here! Let’s do this.”

In a show of support, Elon Musk updated his profile picture to feature the new X logo and included “X.com” in his Twitter bio. Rumors suggest that Musk’s vision revolves around developing a comprehensive “super app” named “X”.

On the previous day, the billionaire entrepreneur had announced his intentions to overhaul Twitter’s logo, tweeting, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

He further mentioned that an interim logo would be activated later the same day.

Elon Musk, the visionary entrepreneur behind X Corp, emphasized that the name change was long overdue, stating, “It should have been done a long time ago.”

Taking to Twitter, Musk shared an intriguing image of a flickering “X,” further teasing the transformation. During a Twitter Spaces audio chat, he affirmed the impending change of the Twitter logo, responding with a simple “Yes” when asked.

Yaccarino expressed her enthusiasm about the rebranding on the platform, viewing it as an exciting new opportunity. She acknowledged Twitter’s significant impact on communication, remarking, “Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.”

The iconic bird mascot, known as Larry, was originally named in tribute to the basketball legend Larry Bird by Twitter’s co-founder Biz Stone back in 2011.
