Cowardly Attacks Cannot Weaken Pakistani Nation’s Resolve Against Terrorism: PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has urged the Interim Afghan government to undertake concrete steps to prevent its soil to be used for transnational terrorism.

He was speaking during his visit to Peshawar along with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his concerns over the involvement of Afghan citizens in the suicide attacks and the liberty of action available to the hostile elements for planning and executing attacks in Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.

He also commended the emergency efforts undertaken by the Pakistan Army in the evacuation of injured personnel from Khar to Peshawar, thus saving many lives.

PM Briefed on Counter-terrorism Efforts

On the occasion, the premier was briefed on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a focus on the Khar suicide attack, the status of investigations underway, and anti-terrorism efforts being undertaken to dismantle the militants’ network by disrupting the linkages between executioners, planners, and abettors.

The PM and the Army Chief also visited the injured personnel under treatment at Combined Military Hospital in Peshawar and inquired about their health. The premier directed the concerned authorities to provide the best possible healthcare services to the injured patients until their full recovery.

While talking with the family members of the victims of the Khar explosion, the premier assured them that the whole nation stands with them in this tough time and shares the burden of their losses.

He said these cowardly terrorist attacks cannot weaken the nation’s resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism from the country. Security Forces with the support of the people, would ensure that those responsible for the cowardly attacks are brought to justice as soon as possible.

Earlier on arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir were received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
