Syed Yousaf Naseem, a prominent leader of the Hurriyat movement, said that Today, Kashmiris across the world observe a black day as a potent symbol of resistance against India’s unilateral actions. The abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A from the Indian Constitution altered the status of the Illegal Occupied Kashmir, a move vehemently rejected by the Kashmiri people.

Syed Yousaf Naseem declared that Kashmiri doesn’t accept the Constitution of India that abolished their rights. He harked back to the vision of then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who had affirmed the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people. This fundamental principle, enshrined in United Nations Resolutions, forms the cornerstone of the Kashmiri struggle.

Syed Yousaf Naseem pointed to the crucial framework laid out in the January 5, 1949 resolution, which offers a clear roadmap to resolve the Kashmir issue. “For 75 years, Kashmiris have tirelessly struggled for their freedom, fueled by the promise of a referendum to determine their own destiny,” he elaborated.
