ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) was adjourned for a few hours after chief minister Balochistan didn’t turn up in the meeting today.

The meeting will resume after few hours, according to the sources. PM Shehbaz Sharif had summoned the CCI meeting today which was to be attended by Chief ministers of the four provinces and federal ministers.

A report regarding the new digital census recently conducted in the country will be presented during the meeting while the provinces will present their point of view on the census.

The Bureau of Statistics has compiled the results after completing the process and the same has been sent to the CCI seeking its approval.

If the CCI gives its approval to the new census results, the general elections in the country may be delayed by at least three to four months.
