Pakistan and Oman Agree to Boost Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to enhance bilateral relations, with a focus on collaboration in trade, defense, and cultural exchange.

The two nations underlined the importance of expanding cooperation during a productive meeting between Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi and Omani Chief of Staff of Sultan’s Armed Forces, Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Raisi, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad.

In a cordial exchange, President Alvi warmly welcomed Vice Admiral Al-Raisi and his accompanying delegation.

Emphasizing the significance of the Pakistan-Oman relationship, President Alvi highlighted the countries’ mutual support on international matters bolstered by shared religious, historical, and cultural ties.

Ferry Service to Enhance Bilateral Relations

Acknowledging the potential for economic collaboration, the President highlighted investment opportunities within Pakistan, particularly in the realm of agriculture. He stressed agricultural cooperation’s pivotal role in ensuring both nations’ food security. President Alvi also proposed initiating a ferry service between Gwadar and Muscat to further strengthen bilateral connections.

The meeting hailed the leadership of Iran and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammad bin Salman, for their pivotal roles in normalizing relations—a vital development for regional prosperity. Both sides highlighted the importance of increased high-level engagements to fortify their multifaceted ties.

President Alvi seized the opportunity to brief the Omani delegation on the grave human rights situation prevailing in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He extended his gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for unwaveringly supporting Pakistan’s stance on the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute.

Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Raisi echoed the sentiments of enhanced collaboration, emphasizing the untapped potential for bilateral cooperation. He conveyed warm regards from his Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur to President Alvi, further solidifying the foundation of goodwill between the two nations. Vice Admiral Al-Raisi also expressed heartfelt condolences for the recent train accident, which resulted in the loss of precious lives.
