BEIJING: The recent first International Food and Agriculture Exhibition in Karachi witnessed significant interest from Chinese enterprises in a diverse range of Pakistani products.

The eagerness of these Chinese enterprises to engage with local companies is set to provide a crucial boost to Pakistan’s efforts to enhance exports to China, noted Ghulam Qadir, the Commercial Counselor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, on Tuesday.

Reflecting on the event, Qadir said, “The exhibition was an excellent opportunity for us to facilitate numerous business-to-business meetings between Chinese representatives and local manufacturers. The Chinese participants were genuinely excited by the impressive variety of products showcased at the Karachi expo.”

110 Chinese Enterprises Participate in Expo

Leading a delegation of approximately 110 Chinese representatives from Beijing and neighboring provinces, Ghulam Qadir highlighted that this collaborative effort through the exhibition generated hope for building a shared future.

This year’s exhibition theme, “Growing a Sustainable Future,” united international and local communities, fostering optimism for a shared tomorrow, said Commercial Counselor.

The participation of numerous Chinese seafood and grain associations in the exhibition, following the establishment of protocols for meat, chili, and other products, highlighted the growing momentum. Praising the meticulous organization by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Qadir underlined the encouraging response from Chinese business entities.

“Chinese entrepreneurs are eager to initiate business collaborations. Competitive pricing, an appealing product range, and a diverse portfolio have captured their interest, presenting ample export opportunities,” Qadir stated.

Qadir informed that Chinese enterprises are keen on importing rice, sesame, sesame oil, and meat from Pakistan, thereby propelling exports to China. Many Chinese companies were interested in visiting meat factories and were enthusiastic about high-quality chili.

Addressing a question, Qadir noted that the Chinese delegations held crucial meetings in Karachi, expressing satisfaction in uncovering new possibilities and establishing strategic alliances seamlessly.

Furthermore, this platform enabled Chinese companies to tap into fresh markets and expand their market share within the country, Qadir concluded.
