LAHORE: Pakistani actress, Mariyam Nafees has spoken up in the defence of three girls who brutally assaulting a salesman at a tuck shop.

Earlier, a footage of three girls dressed in jeans and T-shirts in Lahore’s Garden Town made headlines following they were caught on video physically attacking a salesman, seemingly without provocation, at a store.

The incident sparked widespread criticism, with many expressed sympathies with the poor salesman. Celebrities also expressed their views over the development. Sanam Jung, renowned Pakistani actress, voiced her disappointment over the matter and said: “I am extremely disappointed! They’ll get away, won’t they? Power and money will prevail over justice.”

Another actor, Haroon Shahid expressed deep sorrow and asked: “What is this? Who are these people? Meanwhile, Ahsan Khan asked: “Does anyone know the full story?”

Mariyam Nafees then came forward to defend the girls, revealing that she knew them personally. She said: “Unfortunately, in our society, you have to provide evidence and proof if you have been harassed.

Maryam responded to the criticism, saying, “They were educated, and of course, they saw a random person and started beating him up! Is that what you think?”

Mariyam added that the girls were harassed with lewd comments by the salesman and that their only mistake was that they were wearing Western dress.

The actress stated that the girls are now receiving threats of violence and rape, but no one knows the other side of the story. The man verbally assaulted them and used other filthy words before telling them to leave.

She said, “Just because the girls were wearing Western dress and had stepped out for some tea, people assumed they were public property,”.
