ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel on Friday in a historic move made it mandatory for all public sector medical universities to enroll imprisoned children if they want to study.

A press release issued by the spokesperson of the ministry said that the ministry will take effective and practical measures for the development and improvement of the medical sector in Pakistan. The health minister said that from the next year 2023, children imprisoned in all jails of Pakistan will be given admission and education in Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, and MBBS.
He also made it mandatory for all public sector medical universities of Pakistan to give admissions to imprisoned children and said that if any child wants to become a doctor even in jail, it is his right, Abdul Qadir Patel.
Public sector institutions to offer admissions
He also issued instructions to the Pakistan Medical Commission that deserving and intelligent children in jail should be given opportunities to study as doctors, nurses, and in any field of medicine. “The aim of this work is to give all the children imprisoned in the jail a prominent place in society,” Abdul Qadir.

He added that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is determined to provide equal facilities to every class and individual of society and it is our duty to provide equal education facilities to every person for the development of society.
He said that without education and health no society can progress on the path of development. Our government represents the aspirations of the people and the welfare of the people is our true motto.
