SAN JOSE: Adobe has expanded its Firefly AI Video Model, launching an artificial intelligence-powered video generator to boost its suite of creative applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Express, and Premiere Pro.
The Firefly Video Model introduces new capabilities designed to streamline the creative process, enabling users to create and extend video clips and enhance audio through AI-powered tools.
Adobe’s Chief Technology Officer for Digital Media, Ely Greenfield, expressed enthusiasm about the technology’s potential. “The usage of Firefly within our creative applications has seen massive adoption, and it’s been inspiring to see how the creative community has used it to push the boundaries of what’s possible,” Greenfield said.
“We’re thrilled to bring creative professionals even more tools for ideation and creation, all designed to be commercially safe.”
Among the key features of the Firefly Video Model is the Generative Extend tool for Premiere Pro, which is currently available in beta. This tool allows users to extend video clips by up to two seconds at 720p or 1080p resolution, at 24 frames per second (FPS).
Furthermore, the tool offers the ability to extend sound effects by up to ten seconds, enhancing audio in tandem with video content.
Adobe is also rolling out two new video generation tools available on the web: Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video. Both tools are initially available in a limited public beta within the Firefly web app, allowing users to experiment with video creation through text prompts or images.
For now, the Firefly Video Model remains in limited public beta, with users required to join a waitlist for access.
Adobe has stated that video generations will be free during the beta period. The company plans to announce more details on its AI video generation pricing and offers once the tools are officially launched to the public.
This development comes just weeks after Meta unveiled its own AI-powered tool, Movie Gen, which creates realistic video clips based on text prompts and can generate 16-second videos with synchronized AI audio. Meta’s tool can also create personalized AI videos using just a single photo.
