Afghan Foreign Minister Discusses “bilateral ties” With UAE Counterpart

ISLAMABAD: The foreign minister of the Afghan interim government, Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) foreign minister, during his visit to the UAE.

According to a statement released by the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional development during their meeting.

The statement noted that it was decided to initiate technical efforts to enhance trade between Afghanistan and the UAE and to facilitate marketing opportunities for Afghan traders.

Taliban also requested the UAE to simplify visa issuance processes for Afghan citizens, Amu TV reported.

Stable Afghanistan

Meanwhile, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting a prosperous, stable, and developed Afghanistan.

UAE-based The National reported, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday, received Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in Abu Dhabi. They exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.

Reconstruction and development

They also reviewed ways to strengthen co-operation, with a particular focus on supporting reconstruction and development efforts in Afghanistan.

The meeting was also attended by Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, it further reported.
