ISLAMABAD: Prominent Afghan singer Haseeba Noor has expressed her disappointment and sorrow over the dissemination of fake news regarding her death in Pakistan. She revealed that someone had uploaded fabricated images of an accident involving her on social media.

In a video statement, Noor emphasized that those responsible for spreading such news should have directly contacted her or obtained information from her family. She highlighted the distress caused by the false reports, not only to herself but also to her family members in Afghanistan.

Noor appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unconfirmed news and assured everyone that she is safe and secure in Pakistan. She explained that the loss of her mobile phone during the accident prevented her from updating people about her well-being in a timely manner.

Afghan Singer’s Death Rumors

The singer’s statement aims to clarify the situation and put an end to the rumors surrounding her alleged demise. Noor hopes that by addressing the issue directly, she can counteract the anxiety and confusion caused by the false reports.

Following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, many artistes and performers, including Noori, sought refuge in neighbouring Pakistan. The Taliban’s restrictive policies on women’s rights and cultural activities prompted creative individuals to flee their homeland, fearing for their safety and the future of artistic expression in the country.

It is essential for social media users and the public to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it to avoid the spread of misinformation that can cause unnecessary distress to individuals and their families.
