Reuters reported that the trip took place amidst a severe humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt told Reuters that they invited three civil servants working for the interim Afghan government in Kabul to Oslo Forum. The Minister said that the officials met Afghan civil society and representatives from other nations to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.
Huitfeldt said, “Isolating Afghanistan will be unfortunate, both for the Afghan citizens and for the world.” A spokesman for the Afghan foreign ministry did not reply to the request for comment. However, Afghan TV Tolo News reported officials from the defense, foreign, and interior ministries had traveled to Norway.
