KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan has announced the arrival of the first Afghan trade caravan with temporary documents in Pakistan, Afghanistan’s Bakhtar news agency reported.

According to a new agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Afghan cargo trucks can enter Pakistan with temporary documents, and Afghan drivers do not need passports or visas for travel, the news agency reported. These temporary entry documents are issued to Afghan drivers by Pakistan’s Embassy in Kabul.

Abdul Salam Akhundzada, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, stated that an agreement has been reached with Pakistani officials to expand trade and exports between the two countries.

“We have agreed that by the end of this calendar year, drivers from both sides will carry out commercial transfers without the need for visas,” he said.

He also mentioned that similar documents will be issued to Pakistani drivers by Afghanistan.

According to this agreement, cargo trucks from both Pakistan and Afghanistan can now travel to any city within the two countries.
