ISLAMABAD: Agha Ali, the popular Pakistani actor and singer, has finally broken his silence regarding his divorce from fellow actor Hina Altaf, putting to rest years of speculation and rumours about their relationship.

The ex-couple, who tied the knot in May 2020, had been the subject of public gossip ever since rumours of their separation began circulating in 2022.

Appearing on actor Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Agha Ali addressed the topic of his divorce with candidness and composure. During the podcast, Butt jokingly began the conversation by asking, “Happily divorced man, how are you?”, to which Ali responded with a laugh.

While Butt acknowledged that the divorce was a personal matter, he lauded Agha Ali and Hina Altaf for handling the situation gracefully. “You both handled it very well, which I value and respect a lot. Otherwise, it is publicized. A drama is created on social media,” Butt remarked.

Agha Ali responded by saying that although life has its difficulties, he is in a better place now. Reflecting on relationships, the Mere Bewafa actor shared, “I think any relationship in life that you have made with your own happiness, you have to keep it alive. One should try hard and pray, but if things are not going in the right direction, then the relationship should be ended.”

Agha Ali said that both he and Hina Altaf will continue to respect each other, avoiding the bitterness that often follows a breakup. “That is the best thing because often when a relationship ends, people don’t respect each other and hatred builds up. When relationships end on a bad note, there is malice and hatred,” he explained.

The actor also reflected on the difficulty of the decision to end his marriage, describing it as something he had never envisioned. He expressed gratitude that despite their separation, the situation did not impact their lives negatively.

“My father died when I was five years old, so I can understand how a child can live without a mother or father, thankfully nothing like that happened,” Agha Ali said.

This is the first time Agha Ali has publicly confirmed the divorce, despite widespread speculation and rumours over the past two years. In August 2023, morning show host Madeeha Naqvi mentioned their divorce on-air but later claimed her statement was a slip of the tongue.

Agha Ali and Hina Altaf got married during the COVID-19 pandemic in a low-key ceremony in May 2020.
