Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Ashtar Ausaf Ali has tendered resignation from his office on Wednesday owing ‘ill-health’.

In his resignation, the AGP has said that in the wake of the ill-health, it was increasingly becoming difficult for him to hold the office and discharge responsibilities.

Sources said that the AGP has requested the president to accept his resignation with immediate effect.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led federal government appointed Ashtar Ausaf as the new Attorney General of Pakistan on May 2, 2022. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved the summary for the appointment of Ausaf as the new AGP.

He had replaced former attorney general Khalid Jawed Khan, who was appointed by the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
