Kyrgyz-Tajik Border Agreement to be Signed in March: Turkish FM

DUSHANBE: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced that an agreement addressing the resolution of border issues between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is expected to be signed in March. Fidan shared the positive news during his meetings with Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon and Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin in Dushanbe.

Expressing enthusiasm for the peaceful agreement, Fidan emphasized Turkey’s interest in the region and its commitment to fostering security and stability in Central Asia. He highlighted the significance of the impending agreement, describing it as a crucial step toward ensuring peace and cooperation in the region.

“As a fraternal country, Turkey is interested in the region and attaches great importance to this peaceful agreement, which will become an important step in ensuring security and stability in Central Asia,” stated Foreign Minister Fidan.

He further expressed hope that the official resolution of the border dispute between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan would take place in March, characterizing it as a pivotal development with far-reaching implications for regional security and stability.

The Turkish Foreign Minister’s visit to Dushanbe followed an official trip to Kyrgyzstan.
