ISLAMABAD: Caretake Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has said that agriculture holds immense importance for socio-economic development at grassroot level.
According to a PM house statement he was addressing the National Farmers Convention in Islamabad as a chief guest.
National Farmer’s Convention was held at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad on Friday.
Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar stressed the need to expedite various initiatives to improve the agriculture sector of Pakistan.
He appreciated the collaborative work of ministries and departments for achieving various milestones under the umbrella of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) was Guest of Honour at the occasion.
The statement further said the COAS speaking on the occasion said that farmers are backbone of Pakistan’s agriculture sector. He said it’s your untiring hard work and determination that plays pivotal role in ensuring food security for millions of Pakistanis. You make us and the entire nation all proud.
The COAS remarked climate change and water scarcity are realities that challenge Pakistan’s food security and necessitate use of technology and close government-public collaboration as being done under SIFC.
He went on to say Pakistan is endowed with immense potential and abundant resources. He was confident that by the grace of Allah, the Pakistani nation will navigate through these challenging times, and attain its goals across every sector.
The Army Chief said the dividends of all initiatives by SIFC will help Pakistan come out of economic crisis. “United, we as a resilient nation, will lead Pakistan towards a progressive and prosperous future, InshaAllah”, COAS concluded.
The event was attended by federal ministers, senior government officials and agricultural experts.
