ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker federal government has appointed Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir as Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
A notification to this effect was issued by the Establishment Division on Friday.
Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir, a Grade-21 officer in the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) is also heading the recently formed Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing into the alleged anti-judiciary drive.
Previously, Ahmad Ishaque Jehangir also served as Deputy Director FIA (cybercrime wing).
The post had been lying vacant since retirement of Mohsin Hassan Butt on 31st December 2023.
Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir has a notable career. The appointment is likely to bring valuable expertise to the FIA, and leadership to the Agency, contributing to its ongoing efforts in maintaining law and order.
