Ahsan Iqbal Directs Officials to Expedite Work on CPEC SEZs

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal called for action to speed up work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s Special Economic Zones while attending a meeting on Friday.

Ahsan Iqbal chaired a review meeting focused on the review of CPEC projects and their status of implementation.

According to Ahsan Iqbal, CPEC has acquired a new lease of life after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s trip to China to attend the eleventh Joint Coordination Committee.

Pakistan’s Minister of Planning asked the concerned ministries and departments to review the progress made on the targets decided in the 11th JCC meeting.

Speed up development of CPEC’s Islamabad Special Economic Zone (SEZ)

Ahsan Iqbal also directed the concerned officials to take action to speed up the progress of the Islamabad Special Economic Zone’s development which is to spread over an area of 1,000 acres. The Minister also instructed Pakistan’s Embassy in the Chinese capital Beijing to check the progress on matters related to CPEC projects.

He expressed his concern and displeasure over inaction on Orange Line Project’s uninterrupted power supply issues.
