AIIB to Support Pakistan on Poverty Reduction, Climate Change

ISLAMABAD: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on Wednesday agreed to promote cooperation with Pakistan in the areas of climate change, poverty reduction, financing instruments, and the advancement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The affirmation was made by Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Ludger Schuknecht during a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema in Islamabad.

Pakistan’s Minister for Economic Affairs appreciated AIIB’s crucial role in delivering assistance to Pakistan, especially during the 2022 devastating floods. He briefed the AIIB’s Vice President on the country’s improving economic outlook.

The Minister appreciated AIIB’s favorable consideration of new project proposals from Pakistan in the infrastructure sector and expressed hope for continued collaboration in funding and implementing vital projects.
