AIOU Signs MoU With Takmil to Enroll Out-Of-School Children

ISLAMABAD: ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Takmil – Teach A Kid Make Individual Life, aimed at collaborating to bring out-of-school children into the education network.

The ceremony was attended by AIOU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Nasir Mahmood, represented by Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof Dr Fazal ur Rahman, and Director of Coordination and Follow-up, Prof Dr Syed Amir Shah. AIOU’s Chairman of the Department of Distance, Non-Formal, and Continuing Education, Dr Muhammad Ajmal Chaudhry, and a board member from Takmil, Dr Sania, signed the MoU.

Under the MoU’s terms, Allama Iqbal Open University will provide educational and technical assistance to enroll out-of-school children, including teacher training, master trainer sessions, and support for educational initiatives.

During the ceremony, Dr Fazal ur Rehman highlighted the challenges faced by public and private sector entities and NGOs in addressing out-of-school children, emphasizing the importance of tangible outcomes from such agreements as envisioned by the Vice Chancellor.

Dr Syed Amir Shah emphasized the noble cause of enrolling out-of-school children, commending AIOU’s exemplary role in tackling this issue and echoing the Vice Chancellor’s vision of ensuring every child receives an education. Dr Sania, representing Takmil Foundation, mentioned their use of technology to provide free basic education in remote areas of Pakistan and expressed optimism about enhancing their efforts with AIOU’s support.

Dr Ajmal outlined AIOU’s commitment to providing technical assistance and teacher training across Takmil’s 160 schools, with Dr Tahira Bibi providing contextual background to the MoU. —APP
