Earlier, the Tata Group-owned service carrier had said that it had decided to lease 12 aircraft, six wide-body B777-300ER and six narrow-body A320neo to supplement its fleet to expand its network of domestic and international flight services.

In a statement, The air line said it would lease six B777-300 ER aircraft to expand and augment its existing fleet.

Air India’s B777-300 ER will have four class configurations: first, business, premium economy and economy.

The airline said that the planes would be deployed to connect metro cities of India with more international destinations.

It should be noted that The air line earlier also operationalized 19 planes, which were grounded for a long time. Nine more such planes were expected to join the fleet.

The air line is in the process of enhancing the frequency of flights on domestic and international routes.

The air line Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Campbell Wilson said that growing its network was an essential part of Air India’s mission in its transformational journey and they remain committed to increasing connectivity and frequency of domestic and international flights.
