MIRPUR: Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, has welcomed recent remarks by US President Joe Biden, affirming that the two-state solution is the only viable resolution to the Palestine-Israel conflict.
President Biden reiterated the longstanding US position on the Middle East solution during a press event in California on Wednesday.
The former AJK premier emphasized the significance of President Biden’s remarks in the context of the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, stating, “The American administration holds a robust position in facilitating the implementation of the two-state Middle East solution.”
Speaking to APP on Thursday, he further elaborated, “This solution, endorsed by the United Nations Security Council, has the potential to fortify Middle East peace. Its formalization on the ground could contribute significantly to regional stability and peaceful co-existence.”
Attique highlighted the lack of implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions’ call for a democratic solution to the longstanding Kashmir dispute.
He added that the non-compliance with the UN-approved Kashmir solution perpetually jeopardizes peace and security in South Asia.
