MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is gearing up to celebrate Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day on Wednesday, August 14th with enthusiasm.
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control will mark the day with special prayers, flag-hoisting ceremonies, processions, rallies and colourful events organized by various public and private organizations.
There would be an official holiday across AJK, with major flag hoisting ceremonies taking place in Muzaffarabad where the AJK President and Prime Minister will raise the national flags of Pakistan and AJK.
Similar ceremonies will be held in all nine districts of AJK including Bagh, Bhimbher, Mirpur, Kotli, Sudhanoti, Rawalakot, Havaili, Hattiyan and Neelum Valley.
The national flag will be hoisted on all private and public buildings. The people across the AJK are buying purchasing flags and decorating their homes and vehicles.
The entire Pakistan nation will come together to sing the national anthem simultaneously at a designated time with traffic stopping across the country in a show of unity.
In Mirpur, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at the Municipal Corporation lawn, with a contingent of AJK Police and Boy Scouts presenting a guard of honour.
School children will sing patriotic songs to express their love for Pakistan.
The AJK government and various political, social and public organizations have finalized arrangements to celebrate Independence Day.
