MIRPUR: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has urged the Kashmiri diaspora to unite and actively oppose Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda in the region.

Speaking to delegations of overseas Kashmiris at Jammu Kashmir House, President Chaudhry underscored their pivotal role in raising awareness about human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK).

He emphasized the need to expose Modi’s efforts to divert global attention from ongoing atrocities in Kashmir under the guise of conducting sham elections.

President Chaudhry encouraged Kashmiri expatriates, especially those in the UK, to bolster their political influence by supporting candidates of Pakistani and Kashmiri origin in upcoming elections.

Highlighting the potential impact of increasing pro-Kashmir voices in the British Parliament, particularly within the All-Party Kashmir Committee, he stressed this could significantly strengthen advocacy for Kashmir’s right to self-determination.

In addition to political engagement, President Chaudhry urged overseas Kashmiris to invest in various sectors in Azad Kashmir, noting that a stable and prosperous Pakistan is crucial for the success of Kashmir’s struggle for freedom. He emphasized the importance of both economic contributions and political activism to advance their cause.

The meeting was attended by notable overseas Kashmiris such as Zahid Iqbal Hashmi from France, Pir Shiraz Hussain from Ireland, Anjum Chauhan from the USA, Sardar Mushtaq Khan from Sweden, and others from diverse countries, underscoring the global diaspora’s potential to exert significant influence.
