LONDON: Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust has established a field hospital in Khan Younis in the war-torn region of Gaza amidst a devastating conflict that has killed more than 39,000 people, including more than 15,000 children, over the past ten months.

The humanitarian organization, known for its longstanding commitment to aiding Gaza’s vulnerable populations, intensified its relief efforts with the inauguration of the Khan Younis Field Hospital. Abdul Razzaq Sajjid, Chairman of Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, emphasized the urgent need for such medical infrastructure in Gaza, where existing hospitals and infrastructure have been severely strained or destroyed due to ongoing hostilities.

“We have responded swiftly to the humanitarian crisis by establishing this field hospital, ensuring that critical medical care reaches those in urgent need,” said Sajjid during a press conference at the organization’s London office.

The project was completed in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent and Palestinian Red Crescent Gaza amid challenging logistics, including restricted access due to the closure of the Rafah border.

Sajjid further highlighted the immense support received from global donors, enabling Al-Mustafa to deliver essential supplies such as clean drinking water, warm clothing, mattresses, blankets, tents, and hygiene kits to affected populations in Gaza.

“Since the onset of the recent conflict, we have distributed aid to over 285,000 people for nutritional needs alone and provided essential medical supplies to 47,000 persons,” he added.

Sadaf Javed, Director of Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, emphasized the organization’s collaboration with accredited bodies allowed to operate within Gaza, facilitating effective aid distribution despite logistical challenges.
