ISLAMABAD: Tahseen Sayed, Honorary Consul of Albania in Islamabad, has returned to Pakistan after an important visit to Albania aimed at promoting bilateral trade and tourism between the two countries.
The visit, which included high-level meetings with Albania’s leadership, also sought to further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.
In an interaction with the media on Saturday, Tahseen Sayed, who previously held a senior position at the World Bank as Regional Director, spoke about her role as an international expert member of Albania’s National Economic Council, chaired by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“During my visit, I met with top Albanian leaders, including Prime Minister Rama and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Defense, Entrepreneurship, European Integration, Finance, Economy & Planning, as well as the Mayor of Tirana,” Sayed said.
Sayed emphasized that the key focus of her meetings was on enhancing cooperation in trade, tourism, and labor market opportunities. She held meetings with representatives from Albania’s private sector, including Chambers of Commerce, banking institutions, and tourism operators, to explore areas of mutual interest.
Expressing optimism about the outcomes of her visit, she stated, “Albania’s leadership expressed their strong desire to strengthen engagement with Pakistan, particularly in the areas of labor market opportunities, tourism, and trade.”
Sayed welcomed the recent decision by the Pakistani government to include Albania among the countries eligible for visa-on-arrival for Pakistani tourists. This step, she noted, will significantly boost tourism and trade between the two nations.
Albania, located in southeastern Europe in the Balkans, is bordered by Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia. With its strategic position along the Adriatic and Ionian seas, Albania serves as an important gateway to European markets, particularly in southeastern Europe.
