Ambassador Amna Baloch Appointed as Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Amna Baloch has been appointed as the new Foreign Secretary of Pakistan and will take charge of her office on September 11.

Baloch, a Grade-22 officer of the Foreign Service of Pakistan, currently serves as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Her appointment marks a significant transition in Pakistan’s diplomatic leadership as she takes over from Muhammad Cyrus Sajjad Qazi, who is retiring on September 10.

Before her tenure in Brussels, Baloch was Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia. Her extensive career in diplomacy includes key roles such as Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu, China; Minister Counsellor at the High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka; Joint Secretary at the Prime Minister Office; and Additional Secretary in the Foreign Minister’s office.

Ambassador Baloch holds a master’s degree in history and has been a part of the Pakistan Foreign Service since 1991. She is married and has two daughters.
