SUKKUR: A team of experts discovered a pot filled with copper coins at the Mohenjo Daro archaeological site during conservation work.

According to the details, a group of laborers were excavating a collapsed wall when they came across a pot full of ancient copper coins in the old city.

Syed Shakir Shah, the Director of Conservation and Preservation, confirmed the discovery of numerous coins filled in a pot, stating that they had been sent to a laboratory for thorough analysis.

The research will determine these coins’ ages and interpret their numerical inscriptions and language.

Shah explained that the laborers initially found the pot of coins during excavation but chose to re-bury it. Subsequently, some workers informed officials from the Archives Department, who conducted a proper excavation to retrieve the coins.

While some archaeologists speculate that these coins could be centuries old, Shah stressed the need for laboratory analysis to gather pertinent details and confirm the exact time.
