ISLAMABAD: Importers have demanded the government to clear the containers stranded at Port Qasim, Karachi.
The government is really in a paradoxical situation for months where it has to decide whether to avoid food and other essential goods supply disruption or preserve foreign exchange reserves as hundreds of containers are stuck up at Port Qasim on grounds of limited letters of credit (LCs).
Angry traders’ video goes viral
Angry traders in a viral video on social media could be seen demanding the government to take immediate action and issue the LCs to release the stranded containers.
They say that due to supply disruption, their businesses and livelihoods of thousands of daily wagers are at stake, therefore “the government should take necessary measures to end the crisis”.
