Another Congo Virus Case Reported in Quetta, Taking Tally to 37

QUETTA: A new case of Congo virus was recorded in Quetta, Balochistan on Thursday.

Fatimah Jinnah Chest Hospital Quetta officials said that 30-year-old Muhammad Ismail, a resident of Ghausabad, was brought to the hospital with the Congo virus symptoms, including bleeding and fever.

A blood sample, sent for test, was later diagnosed him Congo virus.

13 deaths of Congo virus

As many as thirty-seven cases of Congo virus have been reported in the province since January 2023 while thirteen people have so far died of the deadly CCHF virus.

It is a matter of concern for the officials concerned that the current year has seen an extraordinary surge in the Congo virus cases, with most of the individuals infected by the virus connected to the livestock business.

To be more specific, the huge population in the province is directly or indirectly dependent on the livestock business.

It is to be noted that CCHF is a widespread illness caused by a tick-borne virus and spreads to humans either by through contact with infected animals or tick bites.
