Another Defying Voice Silenced in Iran

ISLAMABAD: Another defying voice was silenced in Iran as 23-year-old Majidreza Rahnavardwas publicly hanged on Monday by Iranian authorities in the city of Mashhad, Iran.

He had allegedly participated in the protests against the death of Mahsa Amini, a detained girl. Human rights organisations have feared that more protesters will be executed in Iran. According to a foreign media outlet, the arrested accused, Majidreza, was publicly hanged in Mashhad on Monday on the charge of killing two members of the security forces. Majidreza, sentenced to death, was arrested 23 days ago while fleeing the country.

Crackdown against defying voices

Mohsin Shikari, arrested on charges of participating in the protests in Iran, was also sentenced to death on Thursday. So far, eleven people have been sentenced to death on the charges of vandalism in Iran. It is worth mentioning here that protests against the death of a girl detained in Iran over the issue of hijab, Mahsa Amini, have been going on in the country since September. At least 14,000 people have been arrested since the beginning of the protests, while at least 458 people, including 63 children, have died until now.
