Anti-Polio Campaign in Full Swing

PESHAWAR: Upon the directives of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Afaq Wazir, administrative officers rigorously oversaw the anti-polio initiative across the provincial capital, ensuring the vaccination of 901,985 children under five.

District administration teams are conducting daily visits to health centers to monitor staff attendance and evaluate the progress of the anti-polio campaign. The health department established 2,496 teams dedicated to administering polio drops to vulnerable children.

Deputy Commissioner Afaq Wazir urged parents to have their children vaccinated against the poliovirus to prevent permanent disabilities. He stressed the crucial role of stakeholders, including Ulemas, elders, notables, and parents, in contributing to the effort to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the entire country polio-free.

Simultaneously, Deputy Commissioner Azmatullah Wazir chaired a performance review meeting for the district’s fourth catch-up day of the anti-polio vaccination drive. Attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Shahryar Qamar, Additional Assistant Commissioners, District Health Officer Kohat, and other relevant health staff, the meeting focused on evaluating the campaign’s progress.

Deputy Commissioner Kohat assessed the campaign’s success targets and issued necessary instructions to enhance its effectiveness in the upcoming days.

He called upon the residents of Kohat district to ensure the vaccination of their children under five, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding them from the debilitating effects of polio.

Furthermore, he urged parents, elders, and Ulemas to collaborate with polio teams, fostering an environment where collective efforts can lead to eradicating the poliovirus from the district. —APP
