ISLAMABAD: All-Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC) chapter leaders paid rich tribute to prominent martyred Kashmiri leader, Mohammad Maqbool Butt, on Saturday.

People in Kashmir adding new chapter to sacrifices

In a joint statement released here, the APHC said that the Kashmiri people were adding a new chapter to the sacrifices made in the occupied region by following in the footsteps of martyr Maqbool Butt.

They said that “the hearts of men and women are bright, and they are making sacrifices to carry on the mission of their great leader. They claimed that Maqbool Butt’s body had remained buried on the jail grounds since being hanged there on February 11, 1984.

They urged the UN to dispatch a team to assess the sufferings of the oppressed people of IIOJK and the situation of the Kashmiri detainees.

They added that many Hurriyat leaders currently in jail after being falsely accused are in danger of losing their lives. They said the UN should force India to free all Kashmiri leaders from unlawful detention.
