ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has welcomed the statement from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) regarding the Indian Supreme Court’s Verdict to revoke the special status of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The APHC warned that the continued denial of the right to self-determination for Kashmiris poses a threat to peace in South Asia.

APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt in his statement from Tihar Jail, where he is currently detained, appreciated the OIC’s statement on Kashmiris Rights. He expressed hope that Muslim nations would unite in advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

Butt urged the OIC and the global community to intervene on behalf of the besieged population in Indian Illegally Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), emphasizing the critical need for action, reported Kashmir Media Service.

In response to the Indian government’s actions, Butt called for a resolute response, asserting that Narendra Modi’s administration should be reprimanded for resorting to brutal, inhuman, and unconstitutional methods against Kashmiris striving for their UN-guaranteed right.

He highlighted the deliberate and prolonged illegal detention of Kashmiri prisoners under draconian laws such as PSA/UAPA, aimed at coercing submission to political beliefs. According to Butt, the BJP regime is suppressing the demand for the right to self-determination by arresting Hurriyat leaders, media personnel, scholars, rights activists, and ordinary citizens on baseless charges.

The OIC, in a statement from Jeddah, expressed its apprehension about the recent Indian Supreme Court verdict against the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The OIC called on India to reverse all illegal and unilateral actions taken since August 5, 2019.
