SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced serious concerns over the ongoing illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists, condemning the inhumane treatment they are subjected to by Indian authorities in jails.
The APHC spokesman, in a statement issued in Srinagar, highlighted the detainees’ deprivation of legal rights and basic amenities in Indian jails, describing the conditions as hell-like.
The APHC emphasized the challenges faced by the people of Kashmir, including state terrorism, arbitrary arrests, physical and mental torture, and the snatching of government services and properties. Despite these hardships, the people of Kashmir demonstrate resilience, dedication, and steadfastness against Indian oppression.
The incarcerated leaders and activists, representing the freedom aspirations of the Kashmiri people, have devoted their lives to the cause of liberation from Indian subjugation. The APHC named several detainees, including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, and others, as victims of political vendetta, imprisoned on fabricated charges.
The APHC called upon international bodies such as the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Committee of the Red Cross to take note of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners. They urged these organizations to play a role in addressing the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
