ISLAMABAD: All Party Hurriyat Conference Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt on Friday said that August 5 was a tragic and very painful day in the history of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He said the special status of the state was abolished and Article 370 and 35A were revoked and the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir was destroyed.

He added that IIOJK turned the territory into an open prison where 10 million of Indian armed soldiers with modern arms humiliated the entire humanity by taking away all basic, political, religious and social rights from the oppressed Kashmiris.

Mushtaq Butt said that the Narendra Modi regime has started an endless series of atrocities and barbarism against innocent people of Kashmir while hundreds of houses were destroyed and people were arrested regularly.

He added that freedom of expression had been banned on social media, electronic media, and print media in IIOJK. An atmosphere of terror and fear had been established in the entire valley.

He went on to say that despite all this oppression, the Kashmiri people will continue their struggle for the right to self-determination to achieve their objectives.

He also called on the United Nations, Muslim countries and all human rights organizations to play their role in ending the growing Indian oppression in Kashmir.
