SRINAGAR: In a message from India’s infamous Tihar jail, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, a prominent leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has fervently urged the youth of Kashmir to step forward and safeguard the sacrifices made for the just freedom cause of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah emphasized the resounding endorsement of the right to self-determination by the overwhelming majority of the people of Kashmir. This endorsement, deeply rooted in the United Nations Security Council resolutions since 1947, symbolizes the persistent rejection of India’s illegal occupation. The veteran leader underscored the significant sacrifices made by the people of Kashmir, emphasizing their desire for a peaceful resolution in alignment with their aspirations, acknowledged by the global community.

Drawing attention to the recent extrajudicial killing of three youths in Indian army custody in the Poonch district, Shah implored the world community to take notice. This tragic incident, according to him, should serve as a wake-up call for international entities to address the urgent and long-standing Kashmir dispute.

Shah issued a heartfelt appeal to the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, urging them to leverage their influence on India to facilitate a resolution that aligns with the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Furthermore, he called upon the broader global community to actively participate in the resolution of the prolonged Kashmir conflict, emphasizing its pivotal role in ensuring lasting peace in South Asia.
