ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Friday called the Indian approach towards the Kashmir dispute arrogant and unrealistic.

Kashmir Media Service reported that the APHC spokesman said in a statement issued in Srinagar, “A political dispute like Kashmir cannot be resolved through military might.”

He vehemently denounced the ruthless use of military might, especially the use of draconian legislation like India’s Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to crush the legitimate demands of the Jammu and Kashmiri people.

He continued by saying that the UN resolutions legitimately support Kashmiris’ claim for their fundamental right to self-determination.

He added that in a civilized and democratic world, deploying one million troops against a small population in an occupied territory is widely considered an act of excessive violence and state terrorism.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) spokesperson dismissed India’s non-validated claims of normalcy in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He highlighted that the situation has remained volatile since the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. The people in the region continue to face a severe military lockdown, experiencing injuries, casualties, humiliation, torture, and arrests.

He emphasized that the people of Kashmir have endured many brutal episodes throughout their history of illegal occupation by Indian military forces, yet they have never surrendered to the might of the Indian military.

Furthermore, he strongly condemned the ongoing cordon and search operations carried out by paramilitary units, Indian forces, the State Investigation Agency, Counter-Intelligence Kashmir personnel, and the notorious National Investigation Agency in various regional areas.

The spokesperson called the United Nations to take note of the Indian atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to play an active role in addressing the Kashmir dispute following the UN resolutions. —APP
