SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has unequivocally denounced the recent wave of arrests orchestrated by Indian security forces in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir region, portraying the move as an attempt to coerce the local populace into acquiescence.

Prominent figures within the APHC, such as Saleem Zargar, Yasin Attai, Imtiyaz Reshi, Narender Singh Khalsa, Imtiyaz Ahmed, and Prof Zubair, have issued statements from Srinagar expressing their deep concern over the ongoing actions of Indian troops, police personnel, and intelligence agencies. The leaders lamented the prevailing atmosphere of widespread crackdowns and intrusive raids, describing them as tactics designed to instill fear among the people of the territory.

Daily occurrences of innocent individuals being apprehended have caused alarm among the APHC members. In a disheartening observation, they highlighted that not only Hurriyat leaders, media professionals, and human rights advocates, but also ordinary Kashmiri citizens are being ensnared in fabricated legal cases, further intensifying the environment of apprehension.

The leaders of APHC have emphasized that the current Indian administration, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, persists in exploiting stringent laws to extend the unjustified detention of Kashmiri prisoners. This strategy is seen as a deliberate attempt to penalize them for their affiliation with the ongoing struggle for freedom. Despite these severe measures, the APHC maintains that India’s oppressive tactics will not quash the indomitable spirit of the Kashmiri people, who remain resolute in their pursuit of a just resolution.

The APHC appeals to the international community to hold India accountable for the excesses being committed in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir region. They earnestly request the global community to exert pressure on India to address the grievances of the Kashmiri populace and work towards a solution that respects their aspirations.
