CALIFORNIA: Apple has started talks in recent days with major news and publishing groups and organizations, seeking authorization to use their content in the firm’s development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems, the western media reported on Friday.
According to media reports, the firm has floated multiyear agreement worth of $50 million to license the archives of news content.
Apple Explores Artificial Intelligence Agreements with News Publishers
The news organizations approached by Apple include the New Yorker; Condé Nast, NBC News; and IAC, which owns the Daily Beast, People and Better Homes and Gardens, the New York Times reported.
Some of the publishers approached by Apple were cool on the proposal, according to the New York Times. However, Apple did not immediately issue any statement over the matter.

The firm also introduced new MacBook Pro and iMac computers and 3 new chips to power them in October, showing that these can be used by AI researchers, whose chatbots and other products are often constrained by how much data can be stored in the computer’s memory.
