NEW YORK: Tech giant Apple is planning to introduce a revamped AI-powered Siri with the anticipated release of its iOS 18.3 update in early 2025 months after launching the iPhone 16 series, which took place on September 10.

Following the release of the new iPhone lineup, Apple is expected to roll out its iOS 18.1 update in October 2023. This initial update will introduce features such as a light refresh of Siri, enhanced Writing Tools, a Photos Clean-Up tool, and Notification Summaries.

The subsequent iOS 18.2 update is set to bring additional features like the Image Playground, Genmoji, and integration with ChatGPT, marking a significant step in enhancing user interaction.

However, iPhone users eager to experience the fully revamped AI capabilities of Siri will need to wait until January 2025, when the iOS 18.3 update is expected to be available. This update aims to transform the user experience by incorporating a glowing light around the screen edges upon activation, alongside a range of functional enhancements.

The introduction of AI features in Siri was first announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) in June 2024, although the company did not initially specify a timeline for the rollout.

Reports suggest that the integration of these advanced AI functionalities will be a key focus of the upcoming iOS 18.3 update.

In a strategic move to bolster Siri’s capabilities, Apple has reportedly collaborated with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into its voice assistant. This partnership aims to enhance Siri’s responsiveness and intelligence.

During a recent product launch event, Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the significance of these advancements, stating, “The next generation of iPhone has been designed for Apple Intelligence from the ground up. It marks the beginning of an exciting new era.”
