Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee Holds Coordination Meeting on Gaza Strip

AMMAN: The members of the Ministerial Committee, assigned by the Extraordinary Joint Arab and Islamic Summit on Developments in the Gaza Strip, held a coordination meeting on Wednesday in Jordan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ayman Safadi chaired the meeting in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine Dr. Muhammad Mustafa; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye Hakan Fidan; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ambassador Nabil Habashi; Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit; and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha also attended the meeting.

The meeting was held to coordinate joint Arab and Islamic efforts during the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in New York City later this month. The meeting also covered a number of topics, most notably efforts to stop the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, end to humanitarian catastrophe, address the dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to all affected areas.

The ministers discussed ways to increase Arab and Islamic action during the General Assembly in support of efforts aimed at advancing the recognition of the Palestinian state, ensuring the fulfillment of the Palestinian people’s rights, and promoting security and peace in the region and the world.

The meeting also reviewed joint efforts to take the necessary steps toward implementing the two-state solution by establishing a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.

Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Naif Al-Sudairy was also present on the occasion.
