CAIRO: Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit has strongly denounced the Israeli occupation airstrike on Nabatieh in southern Lebanon that killed and wounded dozens of people, including the mayor and several relief workers, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.
Aboul Gheit in a statement said that Israel is indiscriminately conducting airstrikes in Lebanon, targeting civilians and infrastructure in a bid to replicate the brutal Gaza scenario.
He added that Israeli arrogance has reached a point of disregarding rational European voices that condemned this indiscriminate and dehumanizing conduct in military operations.
He said that Israel continues to persistently implement a scenario of emptying northern Gaza of its population and committing massacres of civilians in a manner that is more ferocious than its actions at the beginning of the war.
Aboul Gheit stated that this represents an open message that the war is continuing without slowing down, pursuing scenarios of forced displacement and even targeting civilians in tents.
The secretary-general noted that the situation in the Gaza Strip has exceeded every imaginable criminal indulgence. He said that allowing this scenario to be repeated in Lebanon by the global community would constitute complicity in the crime through silence and failure to stop this bloody campaign against Lebanese civilians.
