CAIRO, Egypt: The Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists, led by Minister of National Security Ben Gvir. Gheit accused the extremists of deliberately inciting Muslims worldwide and pushing the situation to the brink.

Gamal Roshdy, Gheit’s spokesman, stated that the storming occurred under heavy protection from Israeli police, turning the Old City into a militarized zone and imposing strict entry restrictions on worshippers. He held the Israeli government fully responsible for these actions, which he argued violated the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem.

Roshdy warned that these repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa were part of a systematic Israeli policy aimed at dividing the sacred site both temporally and spatially. He condemned the exploitation of religious sensitivities for political gain as dangerous and reprehensible.

Similarly, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the storming and flag-raising inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling these actions a violation of international law. Egypt emphasized the need for international intervention and reaffirmed its commitment to a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
