DUBAI: The Arab League on Tuesday called for an end to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the Israeli occupation forces to be completely removed from the Gaza Strip.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit also demanded the return of the displaced Palestinian people to their homes and the initiation of a reconstruction process in the area.

The actions, he continued, had to be a part of a comprehensive strategy with a clear timeline and legally binding commitments to carry out the two-state solution in the region in accordance with pertinent resolutions of the UN Security Council.

Aboul Gheit applauded the US, Egypt, and Qatar’s mediation efforts to secure a total ceasefire in Gaza and guarantee the flow of humanitarian aid to the area.

He emphasized that in order to secure a truce in the Gaza Strip, the occupying forces must respond to US President Joe Biden’s proposal with gravity and strength.
