CAIRO: The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has reaffirmed the league’s commitment to supporting Somalia in addressing any challenge threatening the sovereignty of the country, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
The Secretary general stated that the regional body would stand by Somalia in the event of any constraints or obstacles jeopardising its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Foreign Minister of Somalia Ahmed Moallim Fiqi to discuss the latest developments in Somalia and the Horn of Africa region.
In a statement, the General Secretariat of the Arab League stressed its backing of the federal government’s endeavours to promote and activate national dialogue to realise the aspirations and interests of the people of Somalia.
