CAIRO: The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has expressed the League’s solidarity with Lebanon, urging the international community to support the Lebanese people in confronting Israeli attacks and their repercussions, especially those that target civilian areas, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
In a statement issued by the Arab League, he said the Lebanese people are facing challenging circumstances.
Aboul Gheit strongly condemned the ongoing series of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which have caused hundreds of casualties and left nearly one million displaced persons.
He stressed that such violations of the country’s sovereignty could lead to an escalation of the conflict.
