CAIRO: The Arab Parliament will hold a special session on Palestine on Thursday, to express solidarity with the people of Palestine particularly Gaza.
Arab and international figures are expected to attend the session, to be held at the headquarters of the Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
The Arab Parliament in a statement said that the event will be held within the framework of continuing efforts by the body to support the Palestinian cause and its people who are facing Israel’s aggression.
The Arab Parliament referred to continued efforts at all levels to support the Palestinian cause and the right to establish an independent state.
Before the special a meeting of the Arab Parliament’s Palestine Committee will be held to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi has denounced the international silence on the daily crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
Global response to Israel’s aggression in Gaza a disgrace
Addressing the 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly hosted by Angola in Luanda, Al-Asoumi termed the international response to Israel’s military operations in Gaza a disgrace.
He added that the global community’s neglect of the massacres which the Palestinian people are exposed to lead to the destruction of the entire region.
According to Gaza health ministry at least 20,674 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in unrelenting Israeli bombardments since October 7.
The UN has said that some 1.87 million Palestinians, over 80 percent of Gaza’s population, have left their homes because of the Israeli bombardment of the besieged enclave.
The Israeli raids have almost destroyed entire neighborhoods in northern Gaza. Israeli ground troops have been facing heavy resistance from Hamas fighters in the area.
