Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa Inaugurates ‘Ababil Drone’ at IDEAS

KARACHI: Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday inaugurated Ababil drone at the defence expo IDEAS 2022 in Karachi.

The multi-purpose Ababil drone has been manufactured by the Pakistan Ordnance Factory, Wah.

The modern drone can hit targets with bombs and throw tear gas grenades to disperse crowds.

The army chief was briefed on the organization of the expo and the modern weapons on display.

Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa also visited various stalls at the exhibition underway at the Karachi Expo Centre.

Along with advanced weapons, indigenously developed drones are also on display at IDEAS.

These multi-purpose drones can be used in both combat and non-combat situations. The “Ababil” series drones are particularly specialized in dropping mortar bombs, but they can also be used in non-combat situations such as firefighting and throwing tear gas grenades.

The Pakistan Ordnance Factory will present 11 new products at the IDEAS exhibition.

Other rifles including CW-56 will also be showcase at the exhibition. These rifles have been manufactured by the Pakistan Ordnance Factory keeping in mind modern and future defence requirements of Pakistan’s armed forces.

Around 60 and 81-mm caliber airdrop bombs manufactured at the POF are also on the display at the exhibition.

The launch of 125 mm anti-tank ammunition is also part of the exhibition. The 5.56×45mm international standard ammunition manufactured at the POF and the 12.7×99mm heavy sniper ammunition will also be on display at the IDEAS.

The IDEAS will also showcase products and circuit boards of Eelectra Tech, a subsidiary of the POF.
